Mostar is the best known town in Herzegovina, built around Stari Most — the reconstructed Ottoman bridge over the Neretva that gives the town its name and its UNESCO listing.

The old bazaar around the bridge is small and walkable, with coppersmiths, cafés over the river and viewpoints on both banks. Most visitors also stop at the Koski Mehmed Pasha mosque for the classic view back at the bridge.
