Leaving Dubrovnik by road is the part of a Croatian trip most people plan least, and the part that can carry the most. The two private transfers below take you north to Split or Zadar in your own vehicle with an English-speaking local driver, door to door, at a departure time you set. Direct, they are a comfortable few hours. With a stop in Ston, at a winery on Pelješac or in Mostar, they become the day out that a bus or a flight cannot be.

How a private transfer from Dubrovnik works
Your driver arrives at your hotel, apartment or the cruise terminal in Dubrovnik at the agreed time. Dubrovnik's Old Town is car-free, so for addresses inside the walls the driver confirms the nearest accessible gate in advance, usually Pile or Ploče, and meets you there. Luggage goes straight into the vehicle. From then on the day runs on your clock: no bus terminal, no fixed timetable, no shared ride.
The price is per vehicle, VAT included, for a sedan up to three passengers or an air-conditioned van up to eight, with the driver, fuel and road tolls inside it. Optional stops are chosen when you book, so the driver plans the timing around them rather than improvising on the day. Entrance fees at any stop, and a winery tasting, are paid separately.
Dubrovnik to Split, with or without the stops
The direct run to Split takes about three hours along the coast. The three stops that turn it into a day are all on or near the route. Ston, at the neck of the Pelješac peninsula, has over five kilometres of medieval walls and the oysters of Mali Ston bay, and adds roughly an hour. A family winery on Pelješac adds another hour for a tasting of Plavac Mali on terraces above the sea. Mostar is the long option: it crosses into Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Old Bridge and the Ottoman old town and adds two to three hours including the border, so it suits travellers with a full day to give the journey.
Most guests take at least one stop. The driver knows each one and can advise on timing against your check-in in Split, a ferry to the islands, or a flight from Split Airport.
Dubrovnik to Zadar
Zadar is a longer day, from four hours direct, and the transfer gives you the same choice of Ston, a Pelješac winery or Mostar in the first half of the route, with Šibenik and its UNESCO-listed Cathedral of St James as a further stop in the second. Pickup is door-to-door in Dubrovnik and drop-off at your hotel, apartment or the Zadar ferry port, which makes this the practical way to reach the islands of northern Dalmatia from the south without a night in Split.
Coming to Dubrovnik instead
If you are based in Split and want Dubrovnik for a day, that trip exists as a private day tour from Split: a ten to twelve hour day with free time in the Old Town and a stop in Ston on the way back.
